BIO Scholarships Q & A
Why go to the BIO Convention?
Discover the latest innovations, share industry knowledge, connect with new partners and interact with global thought leaders at the 2010 BIO International Convention on May 3-6 in Chicago. Energize your company and your team by taking advantage of the BIO Business Forum, world-class programming, networking events and the BIO Exhibition. Last year more than 14,000 executives and management from research, business, academia and investment companies from 58 countries attended BIO. There are things to learn, people to meet and deals to be made.
For information about the convention visit http://convention.bio.org.
Who can apply for the scholarships?
Once again for 2010, the Oklahoma Business Roundtable has agreed to provide funding for a limited number of scholarships to encourage bioscience start-up companies to attend BIO. The scholarships are intended to support early-stage entrepreneurs and start-up companies to help defray the cost of registration, travel and hotel rooms.
How are the scholarships judged?
A limited number of scholarships is available. Applications will be judged in part on which ones best demonstrate a plan for, and commitment to, maximizing the opportunity that attending BIO affords. Because the number of scholarships is limited, preference may be given to qualifying, first-time applicants. Winners are also asked to support our state’s presence by participating at the Oklahoma Pavilion and at events sponsored by the Oklahoma delegation.
How do I apply?
An application form and instructions for submission will be posted on the OKBio website at www.okbio.org. The deadline for application has been extended to 5 pm Friday, March 26, 2010.
How does the scholarship work?
Scholarships will be awarded to the winners as reimbursement following the convention. Before receiving reimbursement, awardees will be asked to submit a brief report on how they capitalized on their BIO attendance, including contacts, meetings and relevancy of their convention experience.
